About Jaz

Power 2 Her is led by Jaz, a passionate founder supported by a network of skilled practitioners from various partner organisations and community projects. And it all started with nails.

While working as a nail technician, Jaz noticed a trend among the women who visited her; it was about way more than just nails. Their nail appointment was a chance to relax, breathe, focus on themselves and have a good chat with someone who just gets it.

For many women, getting their nails done every few weeks is their only act of self-care. A lack of boundaries in your professional life, a lack of support at home, and the pressure to show up as a parent often leaves women feeling disconnected from their sense of self.

There is a clear problem in the self-care discourse that fails to recognise that this practice is founded on privilege. Many people lack the time, resources or support to be able to put themselves first. This leads to burnout, disconnection, unexplained health problems and a loss of self.

Power 2 Her exists to catch women before they fall. It removes barriers to self-care by placing it in the community, making it easily accessible, and offering sponsored childcare places to help support busy parents and guardians.

What does support look like?

Support is completely personalised to you. The foundation of our approach to self-care includes movement, connection and creativity, so you can expect these to play an important role.

You might benefit from 1:1 accountability support, which is like a chat with your nail tech meets professional counselling. Or you might benefit from group self-care activities that will allow you to connect with yourself and with a wider support community. We also deliver workshops in the community and in workspaces to help teach simple skills that can help individuals to feel calm and connected.

The important thing to remember is that we want to make self-care support accessible to everyone, so if you feel there is a barrier preventing you from seeking help, we’ll help you find a way around it.

Who can we help?

This service was established specifically to help women and girls in the Gloucestershire and Worcestershire areas. We can also help those further afield with online resources and 1:1 support.

As an abuse-informed service, we can provide specialist crisis support for those going through or recovering from domestic abuse, mental health problems and isolation.

We also aim to support working mums who take it all on and don’t know how to ask for help. But you don’t have to be a mum or in crisis to use this service. We’re here for anyone looking for a perspective shift to help them prioritise their self-care.
